herbert-house-york-2024 This historic building is known as Sir Thomas Herbert's House and also as Herbert House. York Gin Shop, which is on the ground floor of the building, has won tourism awards. On the right side of the building is a plaque indicating that Sir Thomas Herbert, a baronet, was born in the house in 1606. Also on the right side of the building, an open entrance to a mediaeval alleyway (a.k.a. snickelway) features a sign for "LADY PECKETT'S YARD". Photo date: August 2024. Image ref: RE0732.
