herbert-house-york-2024 
 This historic building is known as Sir Thomas Herbert's House and also as Herbert House.
York Gin Shop, which is on the ground floor of the building, has won tourism awards.
On the right side of the building is a plaque indicating that Sir Thomas Herbert, a baronet, was born in the house in 1606.
Also on the right side of the building, an open entrance to a mediaeval alleyway (a.k.a. snickelway) features a sign for "LADY PECKETT'S YARD".

The building has also been used as a gift shop and for choir practice.

Raindale Mill is a watermill that was relocated from the North Yorkshire Moors and reconstructed in York.
The River Foss is a tributary that feeds into the River Ouse.
In this image, not much of the river water is visible as it was covered in green at the time of the photograph.
